Building Shop 331 - Abstract Construct

The abstract construct building shop was orchestrated in such a way that a complete understanding of a specific word would be achieved and consequentially a physical manifestation of the word would be done. The project was organized into five representational methods:
1. Geometric Representation
2. Typographic Representation
3. Imagery Representation
4. Typography + Imagery Representation
5. Final Construct
The word related to this project is lenticular.

The idea was to create a project that would be minimal in its design in order to allow for the complexity of the word itself to dictate the design.

Final Construct
The final construct was designed under the notion that lenticular refers to the change or even the manipulation of perception. A limit of three materials was established - white silicone, transparent acrylic and walnut - in order to further reinforce the intent to make the complexity of the word dictate the end result. The box contains various layers that inform the lenticularity of the design. The first are the ten acrylic slides that have been etched with their respective letter of the word, second are the white silicone circles that on one end represent all the consonants of the word and on the other all the vowels, finally the inside of the box contains rectagular voids that are relative to the syllabic breakdown of the word.
